Graduation at Centerburg High School was canceled after officials at the Centerburg School District discovered a cheating scheme, reports USA Today.
A senior at the high school somehow gained access to teachers’ computers, found tests, printed them and handed them out to other students. Officials caught wind of the offense after a student found a congratulatory note to a responsible party on a school computer. The note was given to the school’s principal.
Authorities believe students cheated on at least five senior World Studies tests dating to early January. The district has identified the student responsible for accessing the files, according to the news source.
Per USA Today, district officials canceled the graduation ceremony because too many seniors either participated in the cheating or knew about it, and failed to report it. Additionally, officials believe underclassmen may have been involved in the incident.
While the ceremony was canceled for the 60 seniors, students are expected to receive their diplomas in the mail.
