SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The California College and University Police Chiefs Association (CCUPCA) held its annual training conference April 10-13 in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., and announced the winners of its medal of valor, award of merit and award of distinction.
The winner of the medal of valor was Roberto Figueroa, security officer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The award of merit was presented to:
- Richard Knopf, corporal, Azusa Pacific University
- Anthony Strickland, deputy chief, Azusa Pacific University
- Rand Richardson, lieutenant, Azusa Pacific University
- Doni Harrelson, officer, California Institute of Technology
- Augustin Valadez, officer, California Institute of Technology
- Ivan Gaor, officer, California Institute of Technology
- Thomas Sharp, lieutenant, Contra Costa College District
- Jeff Spelatz, deputy, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department
- Richard Pfeiffer, deputy, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department
- Alan Chan, officer, Pasadena City College
- Matt Carmichael, lieutenant, University of California, Davis
- Robin Parlow, crime prevention analyst, University of California, Davis
The award of distinction was presented to Paula Carr, deputy chief OES, and the certificate of appreciation was presented to Dan Winger, senior patrol officer, Vanguard University. Special recognition was given to Laura Lorman, chief of police,West Valley-Mission Community College and former CCUPCA president.
