The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has confirmed that a man who reportedly fired multiple shots at his ex-girlfriend before turning the gun on himself Dec. 5 was a former police officer with the Tulsa Police Department.
Thomas Floyd Fees, 38, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been arrested a day earlier for entering his ex-girlfriend’s home while she was sleeping, but was released from custody a few hours later, News on 6 reports.
The woman was studying in a music hall on the Rogers State University campus when she spotted Fees, who opened fire. She was able to run to safety, but by the time police arrived, Fees was dead.
Fees retired from the police force in 2010 after he was suspended for threatening a bouncer at a bar with a firearm.
