Campus Police Shoot Armed Homeless Man at Fla. College

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Florida Atlantic University (FAU) campus police shot a homeless man by the university today after he threatened the squad with a knife.

The incident occurred after police received a phone call around 10:15 a.m. about an armed man on the rooftop of FAU’s Innovation Center 3, a one-story research building, Palm Beach Post reports. When the authorities arrived at the scene, they saw the man was armed with a knife, and feeling threatened, they shot him. The man was taken to Delray Beach Medical Center. His condition is not known.

It is unclear how many officers were involved in the incident or how many shots were fired. The campus was never evacuated or placed on lockdown.
