WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) announce they will be holding several campus crime prevention officer training programs throughout the United States this spring and summer.
This three-day training program is funded by a Bureau of Justice Assistance grant that developed a comprehensive campus crime prevention officer curriculum with the National Crime Prevention Council and college crime prevention practitioners. This newly developed 420-page curriculum is being presented free of charge to IACLEA member institutions during the pilot phase of the grant.
Curriculum will include best practices in college crime prevention, lighting, crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED), security surveys, community policing, residence hall and housing security, and available crime prevention resources.
Dates and Locations of Training Programs:
- March 20 – 22, Duke University (Durham, N.C.)
- April 24 – 26, Columbus State Community College (Columbus, Ohio)
- May 15 – 17, California State University – Northridge (Northridge, Calif.)
- June 12 – 14, Universit of Texas Health Science Center (San Antonio, Texas)
Who Should Attend: All campus crime prevention officers or campus safety officials who are responsible for crime prevention programming on campus
Other Information:
- This training is provided at no cost. However, the grant does not cover any other travel, lodging or per diem expenses
- Registration begins at 7:30am. Sessions run from approximately 8:00am – 5:00pm each day
- Certificates of completion will be issued only to those participants who complete all three days of training
- Class size is limited to the first 35 participants registered
