WELLINGTON, Fla., Hidden cameras taped Wellington High School football coach Erik Robinson stealing money from fellow coaches last spring. Police say that after they confronted Robinson, 41, with the footage, he also admitted to stealing money from student lockers.
Robinson was then removed as head coach and reassigned to another job within the district. According to the Palm Beach Post, school officials say he quit Aug. 15 before the district could file a complaint that could have resulted in action against his teaching credential.
School district police installed a camera last winter in response to theft reports from coaches. The original camera, which was motion activated, caught Robinson going through a desk, but the image was inconclusive. Another continuous-play camera was installed in March and taped Robinson removing an envelope containing $14 from the same desk in April. The footage from the April incident was conclusive and usable.
