GILROY, Calif. – An arson attack at Gateway Education School July 23 has upset the community. This is the second fire in six months at the special needs facility.
The fire occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the school’s main building. On July 24, police went door to door to ask residents if they had seen any suspicious behavior.
The school, which serves students with special needs between the ages of four and 22, faced a fire in January when a pile of debris was set ablaze. No one has been arrested for either incident. Currently, police are unsure whether the same person is responsible for both.
Fire officials contained the fire to the main building, which allows teachers to conduct their classes in portable classrooms.
