California Girl, 15, Raped at High School

Published: February 14, 2006

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – A 26-year-old man has been arrested for the Feb. 13 rape of a female freshman on the campus of San Rafael High School.

The local man, Jorge Alberto Ek-Luna, was charged with rape, assault, kidnapping, lewd and lascivious conduct on a child, providing false identification to police and damaging a wireless communications device.

The incident occurred in the morning, just after the 15-year-old victim walked onto the campus parking lot. Police say Ek-Luna attacked her from behind, holding a broken bottle to her throat. He then took her to a nearby bush and raped her. The suspect then forced the girl off campus, saying he wanted to take her to a hotel. He was then noticed by a motorist who saw him dragging the victim by the neck. Police soon arrived, arrested the Ek-Luna and took the victim to a local hospital.

Although the incident is still being investigated, police believe it was a random attack. Counselors are currently available for students requiring assistance, but school officials did not comment as to whether or not security measures will be increased.
