California College Temporarily Disarms Campus Police

Published: October 15, 2008

VICTORVILLE, Calif. -Campus police at Victor Valley College have been temporarily stripped of their arms and investigative duties after officials determined that the officers need additional training.

Officials said there were training and administrative deficiencies that are out of compliance with local and state regulations. For example, although the college checked officers’ fingerprints, a more extensive background search that is required for campus police was not followed.

Additionally, the institution is trying to get some of their officers training with the San Bernadino County Sheriff’s office.

Until the officers are back on regular patrol, the college has asked local law enforcement to assist patrolling the area.
