PITTSBURG, Calif. — Police and school officials are planning to link cameras at Pittsburg High School to a citywide security system. The purpose is to give police quick access to cameras to help them investigate any crimes that might occur on campus.
One police officer is assigned full time to the high school and another two are assigned to the city’s two junior high schools, the Contra Costa Times reports. The high school has 100 cameras in the courtyard, halls and stairwells.
The school district will pay approximately $40,000 for software to establish the link between its cameras and the city security system. The city will pay for upkeep and maintenance of the system.
