PLEASANTON, Calif. — School officials voted unanimously Jan. 24 to bring in police K-9 unit dogs to discourage drug use on the district’s three high school campuses.
Of the last 20 suspensions at Village High School, 18 of them were drug related, according to Principal Greg Giglio, KTVU.com reports. Additionally, Foothill High has already surpassed the total number of drug-related suspensions for all of last year.
At no cost to the district, the Pleasanton police department’s two drug-sniffing canines will be brought in to conduct random searches of parking lots and lockers.
