Faculty and students at Los Angeles Pierce College have criticized the school for having a mostly non-functional video surveillance system on campus.
The Pierce College Sheriff’s Station has acknowledged that many of the cameras around campus are not turned on and need to be updated, according to theroundupnews.com.

The only cameras currently being monitored by the Sheriff’s Station are at the farm on campus, although there have been several security incidents on campus already this semester.
There are more than 30 cameras in operation around two stores on campus, but they are independently monitored and not affiliated with the Sheriff’s Station.

The school was also criticized for having poor lighting around multiple parts of campus, and one staff member blamed the lack of lighting and surveillance on a traffic incident that he was involved in recently.
