Calif. Domestic Dispute Leads to Hospital Stabbing

The suspect was arrested near the hospital shortly after the attack.

A patient in a Long Beach hospital was stabbed by a visitor March 28 in an attack police are characterizing as a domestic incident.

A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for the attack at St. Mary Medical Center, which occurred around 2:50 a.m., reports the Press Telegram.

The suspect was in the victim’s hospital room when a dispute began. Following the stabbing, Long Beach police were called and the man was apprehended near the hospital.

The victim is being treated at the hospital and is expected to survive her injuries.

The suspect, who has not been identified, was arrested and charged with suspicion of attempted murder and domestic violence. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

The suspect’s relationship to the victim was not disclosed.
