PEORIA, Ill. – A University of Illinois College of Medicine security officer gave a man claiming to be a housekeeper unfettered access to campus on Sunday.
The suspect, who wasn’t wearing a uniform but was carrying a towel, was given a set of master keys once he told the guard he was there to clean, reports the Journal Star. The man signed in as “Dan.”
A short time late, the real housekeeper, who was wearing a uniform, arrived. The custodian told the security officer no one by the name of “Dan” worked for the custodial service.
The security officer then confronted the suspect, who fled the scene. He has not been captured yet and is believed to have stolen a computer.
