PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – All Broward County public schools were placed on lockdown after Pembroke Pines police received information on a threat from a caller on a local radio station.
Pembroke Pines Police Capt. Dan Rakofsky told The Sun Sentinel that a woman made a call to a local radio station, claiming that her husband was planning to open fire at a school in Pembroke Pines. The police then received an E-mail stating that an unspecified incident was going to occur around county government buildings.
According the The Sun Sentinel, the school district’s investigate unit, the Sheriff’s Office and Pembroke Pines police are working together to address this threat. The decision to secure all district facilities was made at 11 am, Schools Superintendent James Notter told the news source.
