BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Police arrested two elementary school students at PS 315 who put rat poison in their teacher’s water bottle.
The unidentified 51-year-old teacher told police that she thought someone might have put poison in her water bottle during class on Monday, NBC New York reports.
Authorities arrested the suspects, ages 9 and 12, after a parent of another student called and said her child saw a student slip something into the victim’s water bottle, ABC News reports.
Police said that the younger student administered the poison, while the older one assisted. Both boys said they wanted to see what would happen to the teacher.
The teacher is currently at home resting, according to school officials.
The students have been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and attempted assault.
