Bomb Threats Trigger N.J. High School to Increase Security

Published: May 5, 2013

ALEXANDRIA TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Officials at Delaware Valley High School have amped up security on campus in response to several bomb threats found on a boys’ bathroom wall within the past six months.

The most recent incident occurred on May 1, which referenced the Boston Marathon bombings. The threat prompted evacuations and sweeps by police agencies with bomb-sniffing dogs, NJ.com reports. The other threats took place in December, February and March.

School officials have decided to keep some restrooms locked during the school day, as well as have monitors posted outside of the bathrooms that are open. Monitors frequently check walls after students exit the lavatories.

Any students found guilty of a bomb threat could face expulsion.
