Bat Attacks Student at N.Y. School

NEW YORK — An 8-year-old is receiving rabies treatments after a bat bit her at Nokomis Elementary School.

The third grader now sports a pair of teeth marks from a puncture wound on her left arm. The girl’s mother, Gina Wetherill, is outraged that the school didn’t inform her of the attack. Rather, other parents told Wetherill that her daughter had been bitten, CBS New York reports.

Representatives for the school said they checked for bats on school premises, but none were found.

Wetherill is deciding whether to pursue legal action against the school.
