MIAMI — A man accused of using personal information of as many of 20 Baptist Health System West Kendall patients to file unauthorized tax returns was sentenced to 31 months in jail.
An unnamed hospital employee sold the names, dates of birth, social security numbers and addresses of patients to 25-year-old Cristobal Puig. Prior to his June 24 sentencing, Puig pled guilty to one of possessing 15 or more social security numbers of other persons, with corresponding names and dates of birth, and one count of knowingly using, without lawful authority, the means of identification of another person.
After serving a 31-month prison sentence, Puig will endure three years of supervised release.
