Authorities Investigate Fatal Missouri Hospital Shooting

DONIPHAN, Mo. – A fatal shooting March 4 at Ripley County Memorial Hospital is being investigated by Southeast Missouri authorities.

A patient was shot and later died after a gun somehow made its way into the hospital. Details have not been released, but investigators are looking into how the gun made its way past signs indicating “No Firearms” at all entrances.

Counselors have been made available to help hospital staff and patients cope with the incident. Foul play is not suspected.
