Authorities Disarm Incendiary Device Found at Pennsylvania Medical Center

PITTSBURGH – A construction worker discovered an incendiary device at Robinson Medical Center March 6.

The Allegheny County bomb squad, the county fire marshal and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive (ATF) were called in to deactivate it. After being analyzed, the device turned out to be fireworks intended to light gas inside the building.

Although the center was being renovated, the discovery of the device prompted authorities to evacuate a nearby daycare center.

Police are investigating the incident, but no suspects have been named.
