Attempted Kidnapper Posed as Doctor

ALEXANDRIA, La. — A man arrested Wednesday at the Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital told a child’s mother that he was a physician and had to take her 2-month-old son from the hospital room. She suspected he wasn’t a doctor and alerted the nurses’ station.

Orlando Jones, 29, was charged with attempted kidnapping, The Associated Press reports. Hospital security is reviewing surveillance video to determine how Jones entered a patient area.

Jones has been arrested multiple times in the past, The Town Talk reports. A court-ordered mental health review from July 2011 found he lacked “the mental capacity to proceed at the present time because he has mental disease or defect,” which prevented him from assisting in his defense.
