Arizona Student Tackled By Police During Riot

A student claims she was tackled by police during a riot following the University of Arizona's defeat in the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

TUCSON, Ariz. – A student is seeking an apology from the Tucson Police Department, claiming that an officer slammed into her during a riot following the University of Arizona’s defeat in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

Christina Gardilcic, 21, said she was walking with her friends when Sgt. Joel Mann, an 18-year veteran with the police department, slammed into her, ABC News reports.

Gardilicic, whose arm was bruised during the alleged incident, claims that she never crossed police lines and was never told she could not be in the area.

Video of the alleged incident has gone viral.

Tucson PD has changed Mann’s assignment, because he has received numerous threats.

Authorities said the department will thoroughly investigate the incident.
