CASPER, Wyo. —More details are coming to light regarding Friday’s bow-and-arrow attack on a Casper College professor.
Only 1 minute after the school’s director of public relations was notified by campus security about the homicide was the school locked down and an emergency notification sent out to the community, reports Trib.com. Marketing and education efforts by the institution on emergency preparedness and alerts, as well as emergency drills are being credited for the appropriate response to the tragedy by the school and the students.
Additionally, the Examiner is reporting that the suspect, Christopher Krumm, 25, was a “borderline genius” who was upset by the belief he had inherited Asperger’s Syndrome from his dad, who was the Casper College professor he allegedly murdered on Friday.
Around 9 a.m. on Nov. 30, Krumm barged into James Krumm’s computer science class and shot him in the head with a high-powered bow and arrow. The victim then fought with his son to give his students time to escape from the classroom. During the struggle, Christopher Krumm fatally stabbed his father in the chest.
Police found the attacker bleeding from self-inflicted knife wounds and taking his last breaths when they arrived at the classroom. Prior to the incident on campus, Christopher Krumm had fatally stabbed his father’s live-in girlfriend, 42-year-old Heidi Arnold, who was a math instructor at the college, at the couple’s home. Her body was found in the gutter of her street.
