Alert About Gunman Confuses Students, Staff

HOUSTON — Houston Community College officials are reviewing procedures after an alert was sent out to students and faculty about two gunman on campus. Some who received the alert are affiliated with multiple schools and did not know which campus the alert was associated with.

Houston police received a 9-1-1 call from a man who gave only his first name and claimed to have seen two men with assault rifles at the college’s central campus, Click2Houston.com reports. The campus was shut down and searched by police, who did not locate a gunman.

Police said that the caller was possibly a prankster.
