A school board in Alabama voted to expand its district’s visitor management system July 13.
The Alabaster School Board will spend nearly $10,000 to bring the Raptor security system to four more schools, allowing school officials to track and monitor all visitors, according to shelbycountyreporter.com.
The Raptor system, which can be remotely accessed by school officials, prints ID badges after visitors have been approved by its database. Front office attendants also use a video surveillance system to monitor the main entrance.
The schools that are getting the security system are Creek View Elementary, Thompson Intermediate, Thompson Sixth Grade Center and Thompson Middle School.
The only school that won’t have the Raptor system after the new installations are complete is Thompson High School, which receives so many visitors officials worry the system may cause complications.
