Adelphi University Student Charged With Rape

Published: August 13, 2006

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.- An Adelphi University student, who pleaded not guilty to first-degree rape in First District Court was charged with the crime Aug. 9 following a female student’s report of the sexual assault to Nassau police.

After she originally reported Kevin F. Lin, 19, to school officials in February, Adelphi didn’t respond with an investigation or alert the police, as is protocol at the public safety office. Instead, police were forced to subpoena the school’s records after they were notified about the incident in April.

According to the university, Lin was suspended and barred from campus at the time. Lin was released on $25,000 bail.
