Abandoned Hospital Found to Have Sensitive Patient Information

Patient information was found in an old hospital building in Statesville, North Carolina.

The social security numbers, names, and dates of birth of former patients were found in a vacant North Carolina hospital April 23.

Davis Hospital in Statesville, N.C., moved to a new location over 30 years ago, but hundreds of medical records remain scattered all over the old building, reports wsoctv.com. The West End Avenue location has been abandoned, but the building is frequented by people drawn to the rumors of its haunting.

A spokesperson for Davis Hospital says that back then the hospital was operated by an unrelated organization and that current employees were totally unaware of the documents. The spokesperson also sayas the hospital will “secure, evaluate and appropriately handle” the documents.
