HOUSTON, Texas — Nine Harris County school districts will benefit from services from 26 after-school service providers in community centers and elementary, middle and high schools, thanks to a $390,000 grant.
The grant, supplied by Houston Endowment, Inc. via the Education Foundation of Harris County, is administered through the Cooperative for After-School Enrichment (CASE). CASE is a division of Harris County Department of Education and serves about 10,000 students yearly with after-school programming.
Funding to the nonprofits ranges from $2,000 to $30,000 and supports services from Sept. 3 to May 31.
“The after-school funding provides money for high-quality, out-of-school time activities that stimulate learning and develop skills that are based on the nonprofit recipients areas of expertise,” said CASE Director Lisa Caruthers.
Districts benefiting include Houston, Pasadena, Alief, Waller, Sheldon, Goose Creek Consolidated, Spring Branch, Channelview and Stafford.
The nonprofit after-school providers offer a plethora of services and include the Alley Theatre, Houston Marathon Foundation, FotoFest, Boys and Girls Country and Children’s Museum of Houston.
