CLEVELAND – A 14-year-old student shot four people at SuccessTech Academy in Cleveland Oct. 10 before turning the gun on himself.
Two of the gunshot victims were teenage boys, ages 14 and 17, while the two others were adult males, ages 42 and 57. A 14-year-old female sustained a knee injury while falling during the incident. All were taken to the hospital.
According to WSFA12, the shooter, freshman Asa H. Coon, apparently had been involved in a fight with another student earlier this week. Fox News claims the suspect had threatened to blow up the school and stab everyone. CNN says he was upset for being suspended.
He returned to the campus carrying a gun in each hand, firing both while walking down the hallway. The incident occurred on the fourth floor of the school, during or just after lunch.
SuccessTech Academy and its surrounding premises have been secured. Students are being reunited with their parents. Police responded to the incident immediately after the first 9-1-1 call was placed. They were on the scene in three minutes.
