5 Florida A & M Fraternity Brothers Arrested for Hazing

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Five Florida A & M University (FAMU) fraternity members have been arrested for the February hazing of a Kappa Alpha Psi pledge.

According to police, all of the suspects have already been suspended and will be charged with felony hazing.

Although Florida criminalized the initiation practice last year, Marcus Jones, an FAMU sophomore, was beaten with canes for four nights in a row in February while pledging Kappa Alpha Psi. Jones sustained a cut that required 25 stitches. He also sustained other serious wounds, which forced him to withdraw from school for the rest of the semester so he could recover.
