Risk/vulnerability assessments are a fact of life for campus police chiefs, security directors and other public safety practitioners. Despite this, a significant percentage of Campus Safety survey respondents are not satisfied with the number and frequency of assessments conducted by their organizations. This is particularly true for educational campuses. More than two in five (43%) college and K-12 respondents say they are somewhat unsatisfied (19%) or very unsatisfied (24%) with this aspect of their jobs. A particularly disturbing stat is the 14% of protection professionals in the education field who say their campuses never conduct assessments.
Hospitals fare better: only 19% express some level of dissatisfaction with the number and frequency of their campuses’ security risk/vulnerability assessments.
