Four HIV-positive patients are suing the Massachusetts General Hospital after their records were lost on an MBTA train. The patients claim their privacy was breached after a hospital employee misplaced the records.
Sixty-six patients were notified by the hospital in March that billing records bearing their names, Social Security numbers, doctors, and diagnoses had been lost by a manager who was riding the Red Line, according to Boston.com.
The plaintiffs’ lawyer has filed a motion to make the suit a class action case to cover all 66 patients whose records were lost.
