HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, Canada- On Aug. 24 shortly before 11 p.m., four security guards were stabbed during a fight in a parking lot just outside a school dance.
The dance was being held at the bingo hall next to the Halifax Forum. A number of girls began fighting, and soon after, a group of young men joined in the fracas.
When security guards tried to break up the fight, four were stabbed, including Jack Tobin, the son of the former premier of Newfoundland and Labrador. A 16-year-old has been arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated assault.
Many in the crowd, composed mainly of 16-22 year-olds, clashed with police as they tried to clear the scene. Some officers responded by screaming back.
The four men were taken to the hospital with injuries, and one security guard was rushed into surgery. Two were in serious condition.
