EAST PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – A fight at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center involving more than a dozen people July 14 resulted in the arrests of four individuals, according to Newsday.
The brawl began after 21-year-old patient Jonathan Poyner refused to meet the terms of hospital staff. His entourage, all believed to be in either their late teens or early 20s, became irate, resulting in an altercation. During the brawl, an officer accompanying a man injured in a car crash was punched in the head.
Poyner and Dasean Poyner, 19, were charged with felony assault, riot, harassment and obstructing government administration. Additionally, 22-year-old Aundra Talbert was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Roland Durham, 19, was charged with harassment for assaulting a bystander and riot.
