31 Gay Rights Activists Arrested At 2 Colleges In 4 Days

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Seven gay rights activists were arrested March 14 for trespassing at Regent University, a private college founded by Pat Robertson.

Those arrested were involved with Soulforce’s “Equality Ride”, a Lynchburg, Va.-based group that is protesting policies at 19 faith-based universities and military academies that bar the enrollment of gays. Regent University’s handbook prohibits homosexual conduct, adultery, premarital sex and sexual misconduct, although according to Gay.com, school officials said it doesn’t have such a policy.

Twenty-four Equality Riders were arrested March 10 at Liberty University, another private Christian College founded by televangelist Jerry Falwell.
