CANTON, Ohio — Thirty hospitals in 13 counties participated in a mock tornado drill Thursday. The drill was directed by 17 agencies gathered at the Stark County Emergency Management Agency.
The hospitals used the drill to test their mass fatality plans during scenarios that were doled out to each hospital via phone or hand-delivered message, CantonRep.com reports. Fifty-three agencies, including fire, police and health departments participated.
The scenarios were aimed to help hospitals test their emergency system for communications, medical surges of patients, evacuations, hospital resources and tracking of the number of available hospital beds.
