TUCSON, Ariz., According to statistics recently released by the FBI, the University of Arizona (UA) leads the nation’s major colleges for property crime.
UA students are more likely to become victims of burglary, larceny, auto theft or arson than those at other schools with student populations of 20,000 or more.
In 2004, UA had 35 property crimes for every 1,000 students. The University of New Mexico came in second with 33 crimes per 1,000 students. Arizona State University ranked third with 31.
Bicycles were the most common items stolen.
