Dewitt School District in Arkansas, Chardon Local Schools in Ohio, and Chambersburg Area School District in Pennsylvania are introducing security upgrades to their campuses.
The Dewitt School Board voted to spend $242,080.71 to install 128 state-of-the-art cameras on the three DeWitt campuses, the Dewitt Era-Enterprise reports. These new Internet Protocol (IP) cameras will allow the district to zoom in on details and recognize faces and license plates.
Chardon Local Schools will install 49 cameras and two network video recorder devices as part of a strategic security plan, The News-Herald reports. The cost of the equipment is $36,175, and a savings of $30,000 is being realized because district employees are installing the materials themselves.
Chambersburg Area School District has begun construction on new security entrances at two schools, the Public Opinion reports. This will prevent visitors from accessing buildings without first entering directly through the office.
