2 Dead in Reynolds High School Shooting

A gunman is dead after he fatally shot a Reynolds High School student.

TROUTDALE, Ore. – A gunman fatally shot a student today at Reynolds High School and was later confirmed deceased by authorities. The incident occurred in the locker room and outside the gym.

SWAT teams arrived at the high school after police received reports of shots fired around 8 a.m.

School officials informed students of a school-wide lockdown and told them to quietly go to their classrooms, Associated Press reports.

Police then conducted a room-by-room search to find the gunman, USA Today reports

Students were evacuated from the school with their hands on their heads, and were reunited with parents in a grocery store parking lot.

The student who was killed has been identified as Emilio Hoffman, a 14-year-old freshman on the soccer team, reports ABC News. Physical education teacher Todd Rispler, 50, sustained minor injuries. The identity of the gunman has not been released. It is believed he died by suicide.
