EDMONTON, Alberta — A University of Alberta student allegedly embezzled $27,745 from an undergraduate student association.
A bank error allowed the student to withdraw funds from the account alone even though the agreement requires a minimum of two authorized signatures, the Edmonton Journal reports. The association has since closed all of its bank accounts and suspended the student’s access to them.
It’s not clear what role the student held with the group, which represents the university’s 2,100 undergraduate business students.
