Research by U.S. Postal Inspectors found that a number of individuals who carried out planned attacks in postal facilities had prior records and/or significant workplace behavioral issues prior to being hired. Improvements in screening applicants became part of USPS’ successful approach to preventing future acts of workplace violence.
