2014 Higher Ed Campus Safety Director of the Year Finalist Clayton Harris

Published: February 17, 2014

Once again Campus Safety magazine honors the top police chiefs and security directors of our nation’s hospitals, schools and universities in our Campus Safety Director of the Year Award program.

Congratulations to Clayton Harris, vice president/chief of police at Cuyahoga Community College.

Since 2006, Campus Safety has honored the outstanding leadership, achievement, and performance of public safety directors with the Campus Safety Director of the Year award. Nominees display superior performance in their jobs, increase overall public safety and spearhead initiatives that increase productivity under difficult circumstances. Their success is measurable in decreased crime, increased patrol presence, cost-saving initiatives, as well as less quantifiable successes, such as increased officer and staff morale, and improved community relations.

Campus Safety initially intended to recognize just one outstanding public safety director with the Director of the Year award, but in its inaugural year the award was given to two separate contenders: one in the healthcare field, and one in the education field, representing important facets of Campus Safety’s readership.  The award has expanded to honor as many as three winners, representing the hospital, higher education, and K-12 school/district categories.
