Nearly 1 in 5 U.S. teens share prescription drugs with their peers, according to a new study released online by the Journal of Adolescent Health. The drugs include antibiotics, antidepressants, acne meds such as Accutane, and ADHD medications.

The survey asked nearly 600 adolescents, aged 12 to 17, if they had ever borrowed or loaned prescription drugs. Those who had taken borrowed prescriptions didn’t tell their doctor, which could lead to unforeseen drug interactions reported USA Today.

According to an NPR.org report, nearly one-third of children who borrowed prescription drugs had side effects.
