2 Virginia Schools Receive Resource Officer Grants

ROCKY MOUNT, Va.

Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services has granted more than $60,000 for school resource officers at Benjamin Franklin Middle School and Franklin County High School in Rocky Mount, Va.

Each grant requires a $19,222 local match. The money will help pay the salaries and benefits for the resource officers, reports The Franklin News-Post.

The officers are expected to focus on law-enforcement education, student counseling and law enforcement.
