PITTSBURGH — Pennsylvania state law requires school districts to ensure that security guards on campus have clean criminal records. However, with more schools hiring private contractors to handle security, some guards have not been properly screened.
At least two security guards in Pittsburgh schools had criminal records, WTAE.com reports. Noble Ramsey, who worked at Highlands Middle School in Natrona Heights, had five felony convictions. Dennis Claypoole, who was previously convicted of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse as a juvenile, worked at several area schools before being fired for tardiness.
Both guards were provided by Pond Security.
