ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Two young men stole $19,000 worth of computer equipment from Perkins Elementary School on June 15. It was the second reported burglary at the school within a few days.
The burglars took a projector, two iMac desktop computers and 17 Macbook computers in about two hours, the St. Petersburg Times reports. Campus officials contacted police when they discovered shattered glass on campus the following morning.
The computers are regularly used by 550 students at the school. The most affected students are those in the third, fourth and fifth grade who are given Macbook laptops to carry with them during those three years of school.
The suspects were recorded by the school’s video surveillance system. They were wearing stockings over their heads to conceal their identities.
