LOS ANGELES – A California Department of Public Health report states that 127 hospital workers at UCLA Medical center looked at the medical records and personal information of celebrity patients between January 2004 and June 2006, according to the Associated Press.
The report, released Aug. 4, explains that after a crackdown on record peeking in April, three employees continued to view the personal information of a celebrity, whose name was not released.
The hospital has been criticized for not taking adequate steps to protect the confidentiality of patients. However, hospital officials said the computer system has been upgraded to block complete Social Security numbers. Additionally, staff members are being trained on privacy and security.
