Media Questioning Penn State 1998 Investigation

In response to the Penn State child sex abuse scandal, the New York Times just ran an article on Penn State campus police’s 1998 investigation into allegations that Jerry Sandusky had engaged in inappropriate and possible sexual conduct with a boy in the facility’s showers.

The case was eventually closed after the alleged victim and a second potential victim, as well as Sandusky were interviewed by a Penn State police investigator and state welfare investigator. The state welfare investigator told the news source that all the child told him at the time was “that Sandusky showered with him, and it made him uncomfortable.”

The investigator suggested that the alleged victim, who is now an adult, told the grand jury a much more explicit account.
