ICYMI: Most Popular Campus Safety Webinars from 2025

Access control, visitor management, and violence prevention are just some of the topics covered in this year's Campus Safety webinars.
Published: December 23, 2025

Safety and security policies and procedures across K–12, higher education, and healthcare campuses continue to evolve in response to emerging risks, new technologies, and shifting regulations. Hearing directly from fellow campus protection professionals about their experiences and areas of expertise is invaluable—and one of the most effective ways to stay informed in this rapidly changing landscape.

In 2025, our free Campus Safety webinar series united industry experts and campus leaders to explore emerging trends and share data-driven strategies safety professionals could apply on their campuses.

While active assailant response topics predictably performed well, we were encouraged that the two most attended webinars in 2025 focused instead on violence prevention through behavioral threat assessment. Other top sessions examined safety and security technologies and their use in both emergency situations and everyday operations.

Here are the top Campus Safety webinars from 2025.

1. Executive Protection and Workplace Violence: Identifying and Preventing Incidents

Hospitals, universities, and K-12 schools face significant risks of workplace violence that directly impact administrators, staff, and the broader campus community. Recent events have highlighted the particular vulnerability of executives and leadership personnel to targeted violence threats.

This webinar addressed the critical need for campus organizations to understand their unique risk profiles and implement effective protective measures.

Security professionals and campus administrators will gain actionable insights into:

  • Risk Assessment Frameworks: Identifying specific threat indicators across different campus environments
  • Threat Mitigation Strategies: Implementing security measures tailored to hospital, university, and K-12 settings
  • Executive Protection Protocols: Safeguarding leadership personnel from targeted violence
  • Case Studies: Examining effective mitigation strategies that have successfully prevented incidents

2. Identifying Pre-Attack Indicators of Violence

Often there are warning signs that a student, employee, visitor, patient, customer, or some other individual is going to become violent. School, hospital, and college campus staff members and public safety officers must learn how to identify these signs so they can appropriately intervene before a situation escalates.

This training covered the characteristics of pre-attack indicators leading up to violent actions. It will cover the environment, including educational facilities, healthcare facilities, and business locations. This training integrates information from psychological, behavioral, and environmental factors, amplified by contemporary challenges.

Topics covered include:

  • Behavioral analysis baselines of individuals in normal behavioral activities
  • Social media platforms and influences
  • The effects of COVID isolation syndrome
  • The unaddressed psychological conditions of individuals we encounter
  • How educators and healthcare providers can make decisions under stress
  • Triggering events that have historically led to violence
  • Analytics of acts of violence
  • Counter-measures to reduce the likelihood of violence

3. Security Officer Response Roles When an Active Assailant Comes to Campus

In the event of an active assailant situation, as in a person actively attempting to inflict physical harm on others (whether armed or unarmed), the roles and responsibilities of a Campus Security Officer are critical for the protection of students, staff, and other individuals on campus.

In this webinar, Idaho State Board of Education School Safety and Security Analyst Jacob Milner discussed the duties of school security officers should an active shooter, active bomber, or some other person who is actively using a weapon attempt to carry out a mass casualty event on campus. Those officer duties and responsibilities include:

  • Threat detection and information dissemination
  • Engaging and/or eliminating the threat when appropriate
  • Providing first aid and assisting in campus evacuation or lockdown
  • Controlling the scene and assisting first responders; and much, much more

4. Enhancing School Security and Hospital Security with Access Control and Visitor Management

Modern access control and visitor management systems provide robust capabilities and unmatched flexibility to create secure environments. However, ineffective deployment or a lack of operational understanding can significantly diminish their effectiveness. Recognizing and addressing these challenges is key to leveraging the full potential of these systems.

In this webinar, two long-standing experts in the field, Drew Neckar from the healthcare sector and Guy Bliesner from the education sector, explore the systems and strategies necessary to enhance security across school and hospital environments. This presentation will analyze common pitfalls, highlight best practices in access control and visitor management, and provide actionable solutions for creating secure facilities in these critical sectors.

Key topics covered include:

  • Common Ground in Security Needs: Explore the overlapping access control requirements of K-12 schools and hospital campuses, and learn how both sectors can benefit from shared insights and strategies.
  • Operational Impacts on Security: Understand how day-to-day operations influence the efficiency of access control and visitor management systems, and learn strategies to ensure maximum effectiveness.
  • Avoiding Common Mistakes: Discover the frequent missteps that hinder the success of access control and visitor management systems and how to rectify or avoid them altogether.

5. Using Campus Security Cameras for Effective Emergency Response

In this webinar, school and college end users describe how they use their video surveillance systems during major emergencies as well as in investigations for common campus crimes like vandalism, unauthorized entry, theft, and more.

The presentation also covers the policies and procedures that make their security cameras most effective, how their systems are monitored, end user lessons learned, and how they are preparing to use their surveillance systems during large-scale crises.
